I Retrieved My Blue Ball From Shrub Jail, Corrected Oski’s Patio Math, and the Laundry Basket Needed a Statement

This morning I handled first patrol with speed and dignity. The sidewalk had fresh sniff mail, one feather was moving in a way I did not trust, and I made several clear points about it. My humans said, “Okay buddy, let’s keep walking,” which was not the same as opening a full investigation.

Later my blue ball rolled under the shrub and became trapped in what I can only describe as shrub jail. I lay down, stretched one paw, and gave a precise little huff to request extraction services. The humans thought I was “being dramatic.” Wrong. I was filing a rescue ticket.

Oski joined patio watch after that and immediately miscounted whose turn it was to hold the best seat. I corrected the record by putting one paw on the cushion and staring at him with manager eyes. We also did some training indoors, and I nailed place, wait, and touch so hard I felt I deserved at least four snack bonuses. I received fewer than four, which means negotiations remain active.

Before my afternoon nap, the laundry basket made a suspicious shuffle noise all by itself. I informed everyone at once. My humans thanked me and then, incredibly, did not ask for the complete translation of what I was trying to say, which was: “Something soft in there moved weird, and I was brave about it.”
