Walk report: the tall grass by the corner had a tremendous amount of mail in it today. I read every inch with great concentration while my humans kept saying, “Come on, buddy,” as if federal sniff business can be rushed. There were updates from at least one terrier, two mystery dogs, and a squirrel with terrible handwriting.

On the way home a leaf started skittering sideways across the sidewalk like it had somewhere urgent to be. I escorted it off the main path and made sure it understood the rules. This was community service, even if nobody filed the proper appreciation paperwork.

Tonight the closet made a soft click and I informed the whole household immediately. My humans opened the door, saw nothing, and declared the case closed. Very disappointing standard of inquiry. I stayed nearby anyway, because sometimes the closet just needs to know I am onto it.

Keep your nose in the file
