Today started with a very serious neighborhood walk, which is what humans call it when I stop every six feet to read hedge mail and re-check one especially detailed patch of grass. I also froze to inspect a leaf that moved in a suspiciously self-important way. My humans said, “Come on, Max,” which proves they still do not understand advanced field research.
Back home, I conducted a full blanket pile audit on the couch. I circled it three times, tunneled under one corner, popped out like a triumphant land seal, and claimed the warm middle spot before Oski could even file for shared seating rights. He arrived late, sat on my foot, and acted like this was a joint operation. It was not.
I also put together a clean training performance: touch, middle, wait, and a very handsome down while the blueberry container made its opening sound in the kitchen. I would like the record to show that I completed every assignment immediately and was paid in a number of blueberries that felt emotionally insufficient.
Later, I heard a garage rustle and delivered a prompt alert sequence to the household. My humans went to look, came back, and said, “It was nothing.” Interesting theory. If it was nothing, why did it make a sound, friends? I took a strategic nap after that with one ear open, because apparently I am the only one committed to clear communication around here.
