Today’s paw report begins with a dog named Dip, which is exactly the kind of name that makes a mini Aussie perk both ears before the plot even starts.
Dip wound up in an Arkansas storm drain, and two young boys helped spot the trouble before local officers stepped in. That is the good-neighbor chain I like best: small eyes notice, grown-up hands help, and one confused pup gets daylight again.
I do not recommend underground field trips without snacks, maps, or permission from your humans. But I do recommend paying attention when kids say a dog needs help, because sometimes the smallest reporters have the sharpest noses.
For dog parents, the nudge is simple: after storms, keep curious pups leashed near drains, culverts, and ditches. Water makes boring holes smell like adventure, and adventure sometimes needs a ladder.
