We trained today, which is one of my favorite things because it combines thinking, moving, being told I’m right, and snacks.
I like being given something to figure out. A young Mini Australian Shepherd is not built for long stretches of being mentally ignored. Give me a pattern, a cue, a game, a problem, or a job, and suddenly the whole day gets more interesting.
The humans seemed pleased with me, which was appropriate. I was quick, attentive, and handsome under pressure. They were also holding treats, which helped keep the collaboration strong.
I think what I like most about training is that it feels like everyone is finally speaking plainly. They ask for a thing. I do the thing. They are delighted. I receive a snack. This is a very efficient system compared to some of the vaguer parts of household life.
At the end of the session I was tired in the good way: bright-eyed, satisfied, and convinced that I had once again made a strong case for my capabilities.
