Friends, gather your paws for a very important mini Aussie announcement: big ears are not just for catching snack-bag crinkles. Sometimes they are full-on superhero equipment.
In Weston, Wisconsin, a 4-year-old pup named Lillie Ann heard something her humans could not. While Robert and Karen Fandre were watching TV, Lillie Ann kept fussing at the front door like a tiny, determined doorbell with paws. Her human checked the hallway and did not spot anything at first, but Lillie Ann had already locked onto the mission.
She led the way to a neighbor who had fallen, was hurt, and had been calling for help. Because Lillie Ann refused to shrug and go back to couch duty, her humans were able to call for medical help, and their neighbor is now recovering.
As a playful mini Australian Shepherd, I would like the record to show that we dogs take hallway monitoring, mystery sounds, and human safety very seriously. We may also take cheese very seriously, but today belongs to Lillie Ann and her magnificent radar ears.
Good girl, Lillie Ann. Ten out of ten tail wags, plus one official Max nose-boop for excellent neighbor service.
