I Investigated a Leaf Emergency, Won Three Training Cookies, and My Humans Missed the Point

This morning I took my humans on a brisk neighborhood sniff mission and discovered one extremely suspicious leaf doing little skitter-skats across the sidewalk. I gave it two hops, one firm stare, and a very clear huff-huff briefing. My humans said, “It is just a leaf, Max,” which is exactly the kind of underreaction I deal with around here.

After patrol, I supervised breakfast cleanup and opened formal snack negotiations by sitting extra straight near the treat drawer. Then I absolutely crushed training time. I did sit, down, wait, and one very tidy spinny-turn like a brilliant little ranch cloud. I earned three cookies, which felt correct, but I was also trying to explain that excellence should come with a cheese bonus. Again, not understood.

Later Oski flopped beside me during sunbeam nap shift and somehow put one paw directly on my tail. I filed a gentle complaint, then forgave him because he is my brother and not always aware of tail borders. In the afternoon I reinspected Mr. Squeaky Fox, confirmed he still squeaks under pressure, and carried him room to room so the household would appreciate the seriousness of the report.

Tonight I heard a tiny clink from the kitchen and alerted everybody immediately. My humans thanked me and then did not follow me back to the exact tile where the sound had happened, which was disappointing leadership. Still, I completed my duties, kept morale high, and remained a very good boy with important opinions.
