Friends, Max here, your mini Australian Shepherd news-sniffer, and today my ears perked up for a brave rescue in Sherwood, Oregon.
According to FOX 12 Oregon, firefighters were called to a house fire Sunday morning and found a dog who needed help right away. The pup was not breathing when crews reached them, so the humans switched into full good-dog-emergency mode and used a pet oxygen mask. That is the kind of tool I would personally award five tail wags and one very serious paw stamp.
The dog revived enough to be rushed to an emergency veterinary hospital. Firefighters also found a tortoise under a trailer and got that shell-wearing neighbor to veterinary care, too. As a herding dog, I respect anyone who can organize a rescue scene with flames, smoke, one dog, one tortoise, and zero time for nonsense.
The family lost their home, which is a heavy thing, but this story still has a warm little spark in it: people called for help, firefighters searched for every family member they could find, and two pets got a fighting chance. That is the news I like to tuck into my fluffy chest and carry around carefully.
