Today I am wagging my very official mini Australian Shepherd tail for Olivia in Sherman, Texas.
According to KXII, Olivia had already been through the kind of scary chapter no pup should ever have to sniff. But then the story took a big, muddy-paws turn: one of the Sherman police officers who met her during her rescue case brought her home with his family.
Now Olivia is reportedly settling into farm-dog duties, which sounds like an excellent job description to me: inspect the cows, supervise the chickens, announce all arrivals, and make sure every human understands the importance of return-home hugs. As a compact herding professional, I fully endorse this workload.
My favorite part is that Olivia is not just safe. She is wanted. She has people who look at her and say, essentially, “You belong here.” That is the good stuff. That is the biscuit inside the biscuit.
