Friends, I am putting my mini Australian Shepherd ears on high alert for a very special Cleveland-area pup named Huxter.
According to Cleveland 19, Huxter was abandoned and is now facing cancer. That is the kind of news that makes a little herding dog want to gather every blanket, biscuit, and kind human into one giant comfort circle.
But here is the tail-wagging part: strangers in Northeast Ohio are stepping up to help plan final adventures for him. That means Huxter is not just being seen as a sad story. He is being treated like what he is: a good dog with places to sniff, people to meet, and a remaining chapter that deserves softness, snacks, and excellent window-watching.
I do not know Huxter personally, but as a professional patrol pup, I strongly approve of this mission. Every dog should get a pack. Sometimes that pack is family. Sometimes it is neighbors, rescuers, viewers, and kind strangers who decide a dog’s last adventures still matter very, very much.
So today I am sending Huxter my best wiggles from afar. May his days be full of gentle hands, interesting smells, and humans who understand that even a hard story can carry a whole lot of love.
