Pack meeting, friends: today I am awarding a very serious tail-wag salute to Jack, a German Shepherd who had a much bigger adventure than any sensible dog would request on purpose.

WKYT reported on May 6 that Jack and his human were stranded in Tennessee’s Cherokee National Forest after nearly a full day lost in rugged country. The situation called for rescue crews, a UH-60 Blackhawk helicopter, and the kind of calm helper humans who know that a dog is part of the mission too.

As a mini Australian Shepherd, I usually prefer my aviation to be imaginary and performed from the couch. Jack, however, got the real mountain-rescue version: a special harness, a careful lift, and a ride out of a ravine with his person. That is not a walk report. That is an entire adventure chapter with extra pawprints.

What I like most is that the rescuers treated Jack like a full member of the team to be saved. No dog left behind, no leash buddy forgotten, no shepherd asked to solve a ravine with vibes alone.

So here is my official Max ruling: Jack is brave, the rescue crew earned premium biscuits, and everyone involved may now take one very long nap in a sunbeam.
